Bringing Innovations to Market

The June 2004 issue of Harvard Business Manager has an interesting article by Bhaskar Chakravorti on bringing innovations successfully to today's networked markets. Chakravorti examines Adobe's market introduction strategy for Acrobat and explains why traditional marketing strategies won't work for innovations. The article originally appeared in the March 2004 issue of Harvard Business Review. The author, a Monitor Group partner, also has a book on this topic.

The Austrian Tax Reform 2004/2005

Here is an article (in German, PDF, 238K) about the Austrian tax reform 2004/2005. The article compares the different income tax computation schemes from 2003 to 2005 and is an interesting read for everyone who wants to calculate and check his tax expenses. It can even help you save money since it describes all the possible tax deductions possibly available to you. The article was written by my girlfriend, Maria, who wrote it for a university seminar.
The Austrian tax reform 2005 brings a lot of changes to the income tax regulations (including a long overdue simplification of the tax computation schema and tax savings for low incomes), but in my opinion fails in its goal to boost the Austrian economy by directly improving the buying power especially of the middle class.

Warp speed, Mr. Sulu!

A model plane freak from Japan has gone where no man has gone before and built a radio-controlled model of the original USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) that actually flies (although, not in space). Unfortunately, his home page is in Japanese, but there is a movie (MPEG) at the end of the page.
